Food and Fitted-Sheets

Yesterday I finally was able to hitch a ride to HEB with Tom, an engineering buddy of mine. Two hours and 117 dollars later, I ended a month-long cycle of eating out and buying groceries from the convenient store. My goal is to have $117 last a month, and I think it’s possible. So far today I have eaten the following:

  • 1 grapefruit
  • 1 banana
  • 1 bagel
  • 2 slices of toast with peanut butter
  • 2 cups of milk
  • a little vanilla pudding
  • 1 potato
  • 1 egg
  • 1 multivitamin

It really is nice to finally get some fresh fruit that doesn’t cost a fortune. Convenient stores sell one bruised banana for more than HEB sells for the bushel.

That comes to around 4 bucks for a days worth of food. That is to say, I didn’t get any meat in my diet today, so we’ll see how I fare once I get cookin.

Today, I also solved one of the great mysteries of life: how to fold a fitted sheet. You can ask me how its done next time you see me and you happen to have a fitted sheet handy. Otherwise, I’d recommend Youtube. It gets a little getting used to, but once you get it, it’s pretty satisfying.

That’s all,

Derek
